Police Officer

Must be CO POST Certified

(or have successfully passed the CO POST exam)

Police Investigator

The Brush Police Department prides itself on it community involvement and relationships.

Our department seeks individuals who:

Demonstrate a positive attitude, are motivated, make valuable contributions to their team, possess and demonstrate high moral standards, and appreciates community policing.

A few of the responsibilities of the Investigator:

  • Preparing and executing search warrants and arrests
  • Responsible for the disposition of criminal cases as assigned
  • May direct police activities at crime scenes
  • Supervises and manages confidential informants
  • Researches and obtains advanced specialized education in evolving investigative techniques, evidence collection, and forensic science
  • Researches and obtains specific skills, i.e. accounting theory, banking practices, medical and pharmaceutical policies and procedures, etc.
  • Obtains and utilizes specialized training in the interrogation of suspects
  • Interviews witnesses and victims
  • Conducts surveillance and operates surveillance equipment
  • Attends autopsies and conducts death investigations
  • Responsible for asset seizures
  • Responsible for liquor code enforcement and inspection of licensed premises
  • Participates in multi-jurisdictional task forces
  • Appears in court and other hearings to offer testimony
  • Assists with patrol as assigned

  • Qualifications:

  • Must be a certified peace officer under the guidelines of the CO POST Board
  • Five or more years in law enforcement experience as a supervisor preferred
  • College degree in Criminal Justice preferred

  • Application and hiring process will include: completion of supplemental questionnaire, physical agility test, written and oral boards, background investigation, drug screen, psychological evaluation, pre-employment physical screening, and possible polygraph or CVSA.
